What the referral terms say about combining

The 2026 referral terms contain two statements. Under “Bonus”: the promotion or part of it may be combined with other offers, and readers should check the other offers’ terms for combinability. Under “Combinability”: unless specified in the terms of other promotions, this promotion can be combined with other offers or promotion codes. A general clause further down says the promotion cannot be used with any other promotional offer unless specified herein, which reads like a drafting leftover; the two specific clauses point the same way, and so do the other offers’ terms quoted below.

The public promotions page adds a caution in its FAQ: usually no, most promotions cannot be stacked, and only one offer applies per qualifying action unless the terms say otherwise. Both things can be true. The referral is written to combine; many other offers are written to exclude everything except a short list. Whether a pair stacks depends on the other offer’s list, which is why each entry below quotes it.

Sources: the 1% Match terms (last updated July 27, 2026), the Monthly Millionaire October rules and the credit-card referral terms. The 1% match is worth a sentence of caution on its own: it needs an invitation or a representative to register, it is paid over two years, and moving more than 20 per cent of the funding out early changes the remaining payments. It is a transfer campaign, not a signup bonus, and it has nothing to do with the $100 referral deposit.

Invitation-only referral boosts, and why your friend may have seen a bigger number

Three referral programmes pay more than $25, and all three require the referrer to have been invited by Wealthsimple. The Super Referrals Boost, effective September 11, 2026, pays $75 to an invited referrer and $25 to the referee. The Referral Ladder, effective June 8, 2026 and updated July 9, adds tiered amounts for an invited referrer when a referee transfers $50,000 or more, up to a top tier above $1 million. The Referral & Householding promotion ran from September 14 to 28, 2026 and paid an extra $75 for creating a household with the referee.

Each of those uses the same combinability sentence as the standard terms: combinable unless another promotion’s terms say otherwise. For the referee, the experience is the same $25 and the same $100 funding rule. For a public referrer, the amount is $25. The owner of this site is a public referrer; nothing here claims an invited rate, and no reader should expect a referee-side difference between an invited code and a public one.

Pages that promise “up to $2,000” from a referral are quoting the Ladder’s invited tiers or the closed tiered programme that preceded June 8, 2026. Relationships created before that date keep their old terms; new ones do not.

Closed campaigns that still show up in search results

The 3% Active Trader Match ran from June 3 to August 31, 2026 for clients with Active Trader status, paying 3 per cent of net funding up to $2 million over 24 months. Its terms allowed combination with the referral programme, the mortgage cash-back offer, Monthly Millionaire and the direct-deposit incentive, and its page is now titled closed. The 2026 (Un)real Deal ran from January 13 to April 30, 2026, offered a choice of 1, 2 or 3 per cent matches over 12, 36 or 60 months, and is marked registration closed; it too listed the referral promotion among its allowed combinations. The New Client Referral Boost from February 2026 is marked closed.

Why mention closed offers at all? Because the clauses are the useful part. Every funding campaign Wealthsimple published this year that we could read listed the referral promotion as compatible. That is a pattern, not a guarantee; the next campaign’s terms could differ, and a 20-year-old forum post about a different year’s rules is not evidence either way.

Small boosts with their own exclusion rules

Not every combination question involves big transfers. The direct-deposit interest boost, running since December 2023, raises the Chequing rate by 0.5 percentage points for clients who set up a qualifying direct deposit. Its clause is narrower: it can be combined with other offers unless specified, but it cannot be combined with other interest-rate-boosting promotions. Savings and credit-card “555” offers from late September 2026 are invitation-only and carry the same general combinability sentence. The credit-card referral’s 5 per cent boost excludes the 555 welcome offer outright.

A short method for any new offer: open its terms, search for “combin,” read the sentence and the list that follows, then check whether you need an invitation. Then confirm the hold period, because a stack of offers can mean a stack of holds on the same money. The referral date planner handles the referral’s 30-, 90- and 180-day clocks; a transfer match adds its own 730-day limit on top.

A fictional stack

Nadia is invited in-app to the 1% match, registers, and moves $30,000 from another broker within 30 days. Her brother Sam signs up with her referral code the same month and deposits $100 from his bank. Her match pays $300 over 24 months; her referral pays $25 to each of them; neither offer’s terms exclude the other. If Nadia withdraws $10,000 after six months, the match’s withdrawal limit reduces her remaining instalments, while the referral’s 180-day hold has already ended. The numbers are made up; the clauses are quoted above.

What to do next

Treat the $25 referral as the one offer written to sit alongside the others, then check the other offer’s own list before counting on both. On October 19, 2026 the public combinations that mattered were the 1% match and Monthly Millionaire; everything larger was invitation-only or closed. Referral code PGVORW is a public referral under the standard terms; the referrer may receive a reward.

Frequently asked questions (FAQs)

Can I get the 1% transfer match and the $25 referral at the same time?

The 1% Match terms list the Wealthsimple Referral Promotion among the offers it may be combined with, and the referral terms allow combination unless another offer prohibits it. Registration for the match still requires an in-app invitation or a representative, and the $25,000 minimum applies to external transfers, not cash deposits.

Why did my friend earn $75 from a referral when I earn $25?

Super Referrals Boost pays $75 to referrers who received a Wealthsimple invitation. Public referrers earn $25 under the standard terms. The referee receives $25 in both cases.

Is the Referral Ladder still running?

The current Ladder terms are effective June 8, 2026 and apply only to referrers invited by email, with tiers starting at $50,000 of referee funding. The earlier tiered programme for relationships created before June 8 is closed to new relationships.

Does Monthly Millionaire replace the $25?

No. The October 2026 rules say the contest combines with any current offer unless specified, and that participants referring friends can earn both the extra entries and the $25 per referral.

How do I check a new offer quickly?

Open the offer’s terms on the help centre, find the combinability clause and its list of exceptions, note the registration window, minimum and hold period, and confirm whether an invitation is required. The promotions page FAQ is a summary; the clause is the rule.
